Our Intake Coordinator will ask questions and gather information (with your consent) to determine whether our services are appropriate for you and your family. In the event that our services are not the right fit, the Intake Coordinator will assist you finding and/or connecting you to the appropriate service(s).

If it is determined that we can meet the needs of you and your family, the Intake Coordinator will obtain your permission to gather information from other service providers involved with your family. This helps us to gain an understanding of what services you have received in the past. When the requested information is received from your previous service provider(s), you or your child(ren) will be assigned to a therapist at the earliest date. The Intake Coordinator will be available during this wait to answer any questions you may have, check in, and outline any next steps.

Once we have gathered the necessary information and determined that we can meet the needs of you and your family, the Intake Coordinator will explain the intake process, provide program information, answer any questions you may have and outline next steps.

A counsellor will call to schedule an Orientation Meeting.

The purpose of orientation meeting is to:

  • Provide more detailed information about our services
  • Explain the assessment (or what we refer to as the ‘getting to know you’) process and counselling services
  • Review issues related to privacy & confidentiality
  • Answer any questions that you may have
  • Allow you to tour the office
  • Set up appointments for assessment or counselling services if you chose to proceed with service.

If you are already involved with services at another organization, with your permission, we will contact them to gather or share any relevant information. We are committed to working together in partnership with other organizations to ensure high quality, coordinated service for you and your family.  Of course, we will discuss with you whether and/or at what point it makes sense to involve others in your services at Radius Child and Youth Services.

We are extremely committed to timely access to our services for children, youth and families; however, there are occasions when there will be a wait for our services. Our Intake Coordinator will connect with you regularly to provide you with an update about approximately how much longer you may need to wait for service. Our Intake Coordinator may also suggest other services (e.g. Walk-In Services) and/or resources (e.g. books, websites) that may be helpful.

Our assessment and counselling services are offered at no cost.

Translation services are made available for clients/families that require them. We also offer assessment and counselling services in French language.
